Look at Me Juliette Burton 4 ****

| On 02, Aug 2014

I always feel that it takes a lot of guts to be able to stand up in front of a room full of strangers and entertain them for an hour. Especially so if you have had a bitch of an internal voice that is always telling you that you are not good enough.

But not only does Ms Burton do this, she does it in a thoroughly professional and funny way that drew laughter throughout her show.

The show is an amalgam of Juliette laying bare her previous, and in some cases ongoing, issues in person and through the medium of film and slides, yet it never comes over as a lecture or even as a self-help group meeting.

Ms Burton does illustrate in the film sections of how a change of clothes and make up can change the perception of how the same person is viewed by the general public and the results are amazing and often hilarious.

The issue of body image has always been predominantly an issue for women over the years and I think that possibly the younger males may slowly be ‘catching up’ so there is something to learn for guys too.
