It has been a couple of years since Neil Delamere has graced the Fringe, but hallelujah he has returned this year albeit for a shortish run.
Neil hit the stage intending to tell us about what has happened in his life since the last time he was here and yes we did get some of this, but… he had so much comedy gold in the audience that he just had to go with. I’m sure we only saw a fraction of his prepared material as his riffing with St Andrew’s golf caddy, a German PHD student, the owner of a rape alarm going off in the middle of his set, and heaven knows what more led him down different paths than planned.
But it didn’t matter. Delamere is such a gifted funny man that whatever route he takes he garners belly laughs from one and all. His set touched on Brexit, sunburn, Irish Army, sectarianism, bobsleighing and Polish centrifuge training , all peppered with laughs during his observational eloquence. Delamere has not just kissed the blarney stone, he has it sprinkled on his breakfast cereal every morning.
He is selling out daily. Get a ticket anyway you can.
