Jan Ravens – Difficult Woman 4**** - One4Review

Jan Ravens – Difficult Woman 4****

| On 05, Aug 2017

The sold-out house attending this gig were probably slightly more senior than the average one during the Fringe, probably something to do with Jan Ravens being renowned for many years as a quality impressionist especially as seen and heard on Deadringers both on TV and on Radio 4. But you certainly don’t need to be of a certain age to enjoy the quality of the performance.
The show title was inspired by a comment made by Kenneth Clarke about Theresa May and the PM was the first of many who got the Ravens treatment throughout the packed out hour. Mrs May was swiftly followed by The Queen,, Anne Robinson, Arlene Foster Germaine Greer, Sandi Toksvig, Nicola Sturgeon, Ruth Davidson Kezia Dugdale and Hilary Clinton… and that was just the opening 5 minutes.
There were hosts more to come as Ms Ravens peppered her stories and yes songs with those famous and occasionally difficult women and the odd man thrown in as well.
The show was well written , flowed well and of course the impressions were spot on throughout proceedings.
Did I have a favourite? Well it was difficult to choose such was the smorgasbord on offer but I would have to choose Jasmine Harman from A Place in The Sun. Just perfection.
This show already has extra dates due to its popularity. Don’t miss out.
