Jess Robinson – Unravelled 4****

| On 05, Aug 2017

Jess Robinson has a talent for mimicry that is so varied and exacting it is mind-blowing. Having recently been part of the Britain’s Got Talent contest, thus exposing her abilities to a huge audience it is no wonder that the purple cow was nearing a capacity audience on the opening night.
Ms Robinson, together with a talented 4 piece band range through the whole showcase delivering scarily accurate impersonations of singing and styles Lulu, Shakira, Kate Bush, The Queen, Lilly Allen and Dame Shirley are just a few… and that was in the opening number alone.
We got different styles as well, reggae, yodelling, disco classical, and dancehall. There were sections where one celeb morphed into another, there was audience interaction, banter with her band and jokes as well and of course her party piece, in excess of twenty pearls selected at random by an audience member from Jess’s clam, where politicians and movie stars rubbed tonsils with singers and divas.
And this year she has also introduced her ‘man voice’ with the introduction of a number added to the repertoire. All this and she was suffering from flu at the time!
If there was a tiny criticism for me the show lacked a little of the razzmatazz and glitz of last year’s show, but is still a great way to spend an hour.
