Patrick Monahan: - #Goals 4**** - One4Review

I always used to feel Patrick Monahan was just a good fun comic, plenty of laughs mostly from his propensity to prance around his venue, get people up on stage joining in and so on, often a kids show for adults. Nothing wrong with that I must say, but gradually over the last couple of years there has been a change. He is still a lovely guy who is rip-roaringly funny, there is still audience interaction, but it is reigned in somewhat into what is certainly a more structured hour. Yet it has lost none of his magic.
Patrick is Irish /Iranian from Middlesbrough. His missus from Chelsea and a vegan. A fair amount of his set is about the complications in marrying up, or marrying down and the differences in schools, shopping, decorating, designer clothes and books. It’s amazing the humour he can mine from such everyday subjects, but, being the performer he is with a fertile comedy imagination, boy can he do it and then some.
There could be nobody in his busy room who could have felt short-changed when he had to draw proceedings to a halt. In fact probably another hour, if it had been possible, would have suited everyone.
