Now it’s not everybody who is a fan of musical comedy, and certainly not every performer can do it. But doing it and doing it very well indeed is Tamar Broadbent.
Ms Broadbent has stage presence and all the talents required and then some. She has a great singing voice, she has the ability to write good songs and a wonderful comedic imagination to meld all these talents together and in doing so provides an hour of classy entertainment and laughs.
The songs are interspersed with funny stories and vox pops from her grandma during which she explains her love of brunch, avocados, why she doesn’t own a house, and will always try to finish what she started, especially wine. She is living her best life. Or is she?
She can be a good friend too, relates stories about festivals, getting stuck in a garment while shopping all drawing laugh out loud moments for the sizeable crowd to enjoy.
An audience member I spoke to afterwards likened her to a modern-day Victoria Wood, high praise indeed. Whether she goes on to these heights only time will tell, but she does have the all the talents and potential to do so. Go see her. You never know it may be your chance to see the next big thing.
