When Trolls Try to Eat Your Goldfish – 4****

| On 23, Aug 2019

Dommy B is a storyteller, and although you can buy a number of his books, including this tale, it is well worth experiencing him live.

This is a story of family, of caring for animals, and of bravery – both human and troll! It’s performed by Dommy B, sometimes helped by the children from the audience, appearing as animals, or being in charge of remembering important things.

It’s a small, but packed room, and all the youngsters are fully engaged with the show. It sometimes gets quite loud in the low ceilinged venue, and there’s not really anywhere for shyer children to be able to hide a little, but Dommy B sticks to the eager volunteers, so it’s not really a problem. And there are plenty of those from preschool aged to pre-teen.

The slightly random guest poet spot – Paul Jenkins in this instance – was fine, but felt disjointed and unconnected to the rest. However, overall, a fun way to spend an hour.
