The War Bus - One4Review

In a quiet Lancashire pub life goes on despite the rumored invasion of Poland. Memories of the past war are resurrected by the possibility of another. In a room upstairs the old man is being looked after by his granddaughter, her male friend comes into the pub looking for his father with high hopes of waylaying her. Part of his father’s life is spent in the pub telling tales of how he drove London buses to and from the front in the last war. One poignant tale of a mothers love and determination is told to his prospective daughter-in-law whilst his own son is fighting this new enemy. No programme was available for this show, which is performed by a cast of seven. Partly self-written it is drawn from experiences from the local area. I did not like the start and felt the end could have been a little clearer. ***
