What a difference a year makes. I saw Ava’s show last year and thought she had a lot of potential, but she would be the first to admit the night I saw her the show was not her best. Subsequently I saw her perform at the Stand Comedy Club earlier this year and what a difference. I was really hoping that her 2006 show would be as good as this, and I certainly was not disappointed. Physically she is the same obviously, a strikingly attractive tall lady, but the main difference was her stage persona. This year she oozes confidence, has superb timing, commands her space and has a structured, very funny show. She also has the ability to make the experience almost a one to one, she could be chatting to you in a bar. Ava has her kids with her this year and shares some of their Edinburgh experiences with loads of laughs built in, some of her past Edinburgh anecdotes and plenty to say about aspects of the media. I won’t spoil your enjoyment as to examples of this ’cause when you go, and go you must, she tells them far better than I could. So do yourself a favour book your ticket now, and be ensured of an hour of comedy from what is surely one of today’s rising stars. ****
