There is something so appealing about going to see a Seymour Mace show. It’s not easy to explain, it just is, very appealing. Could it be that this genial Geordie is a nice guy? Could it be that he doesn’t know the meaning of pretentious? Could it be that his mind works in a way that every show is different? I just know that it is one of the first shows I look for when perusing the Fringe brochure each June.
Mace throws the rule book out of the window, a window he has been known to throw open and probably scare passers-by, the somewhat surreal game shows he reinvents. He gives each of his performances his everything and his self-deprecating all-inclusive delivery had the audience, as always in stitches throughout.
For those of us who are niche enough to know him we have an idea what to expect, but if you haven’t discovered this hidden treasure get down to Stand 2 and be prepared to have a hoot and you never know win a prize, or even a ‘date’ with the host. You know you want to, really want to.
