Mervyn Stutter’s Pick of the Fringe 4.5 **** - One4Review

Fringe Institution Mervyn Stutter is back once more presenting his much loved by all The Pick of the Fringe, and while it is in its 29th year the format doesn’t really alter, if you have a winning formula, and he has, then why change it.
The premise, if you are unaware, Mervyn and his team of researcher scour the Fringe to bring an everchanging selection of acts to showcase parts of their show, opening the eyes and maybe seeing different acts you may have missed, and it is across all genres.
The show I saw had circus, from Cirque Berserk! also Rouge, John Hastings and Alfie Brown provided the comedy, theatre featured The Greatest Hits of Lily and John plus War of the Worlds (On a Budget), and finally Choir of Man providing some excellent music, but the line-up will change daily.
Stutter always opens proceedings with a few gags and observations to warm up the packed crowd, throws in a song or two of his own and briefly chats to every act, giving the details of the performances.
The beauty of this show is the chance to see it more than once as the content is always different, but rest assured the quality will always be top class.
4.5 ****
