Danny McLoughlin Phillip was Right 4 **** - One4Review

There cannot be too many stand-up shows that open with the performer reciting Phllip Larkin poetry, but then there are reasons for this.
McLoughlin’s favourite poem ‘This be the Verse’ was selected as a 11 year old basically because it contained sweary words and this was very cool for his early self. But did this lead to his English Lit degree or his creative writing masters?
Danny, is a nice everyday guy, well rounded, but it seems he has a vast dislike for most foods. The list is exhaustive. He does however like some foods, chicken especially, bread get really high billing in proceedings.
He delved into his upbringing drawing parallels to the opening poem and reasons for opting to live with one parent following their separation, school dinners, health issues, hypochondria, and his love of poetry, even delivering a couple of his own during this fun packed hour.
It is fair to say that his show grew from strength to strength as the hour proceeded. He is a likeably chap with bags of personality and an uncanny knack to draw laughs from unusual subjects. Definitely an hour well spent.
