Kitty Flanagan – A Festival of Me - One4Review

There are a multitude of comedians in Edinburgh this Fringe and I have seen quite a few, but I haven’t seen a show with an opening like this before. Ms Flannigan introduces a ten minute short film she wrote an directed as a way to warm up the audience, as she says she’s not good at chatting with the audience. What she is good at though was telling stories about her life, she is Australian, and gives examples of the three major southern hemisphere accents and highlights the differences. Kitty also has some gig stories, therapy sessions, I prefer her alternative though, the different ways of how mothers react to misbehaving children, dependant on the mothers age and dining alone in a restaurant. She also claims to over think things and often creates situations that probably wouldn’t exist had she thought less. The show is over almost before it seems to have begun and Kitty leaves us with a song about the likes of Britney, Paris and Lindsay and their lack of underwear. To find out why she has christened them with CSD and in fact to find out what it means, go to the box office now. ****
