Snowflake (100 words for snow, one for sorrow) - One4Review
It is a cliché but the Inuit people do have many words for snow but the word sorrow is unique. Albertine Snow (Hayley Reed) is the youngest of three girls, a teenager trying to find her way in life, and this is not aided by the fact her beloved grandmother has moved across the world. Grandmother Marie Albertine Larousse (Vicky Storey), who looked after Albertine as a child, now cares for the Inuits. Albertine sets off on a journey of discovery through which she meets Goths, Chavs, her Grandmother, Amaruk the wolf (Steve Cowood), Uppiq the Snowy Owl (Victoria Clubb), Beaver (Katy-Jo Taylor), Raven (Kieren Manku), Nanook the Polar Bear (Simon Hibbert) and some of the Inuit people. Through her travels she comes in contact with self-harm, anorexia, unwanted pregnancy and death. The show includes original music, dance, rap, tribal drumming and theatre. This is an interesting show with some lovely touches. ***
