Tim FitzHigham’s brand of comedy is frantic. He fires out words like machine gun bullets and his humour hits the target. He celebrates the accomplishments of his hero Captain Sir Richard Burton, the translator of the Kama Sutra. Burton was the James Bond of the late 19th century – accomplished swordsman, adventurer, and lover of women. Burton’s quest in translating and publishing the Kama Sutra, and also the Perfumed Garden, was an attempt to enlighten Victorian society and alter repressive attitudes towards sex. Having entertained the audience with Burton’s exploits, he asked whether he should continue in a serious, academic way or go to the juicy bits. Obviously, the latter was chosen and a power point display was most useful for illustrative purposes. At the end he had to rush because much fun had occurred with his interaction with members of the audience earlier on. This had eaten into the time available. Tim FitzHigham is a comedian with boundless energy – quick witted with a talent for glorious asides and ad libs. He is housed in the Pleasance Hut which is, shall we say, a compact space and he was packed out. If this show catches your interest, my advice is to book early.   ****
