Paul Tonkinson - The Anti-Life Crisis  - One4Review

Comedy actor, stand-up and former Big Breakfast presenter Paul Tonkinson makes a return to the Fringe after too long away but certainly has not ‘lost’ the way to play a room. In his packed out attic space Tonks’ initial banter with the crowd gave him some comedy gifts in the form of a financial companies night out and this of course was source for a lot of gags and call backs. Seemingly effortless in his delivery, he flows from one subject to another with topical, observational and a few anecdotal episodes as well and had the crowd in stitches. Married with three kids and a huge mortgage, obviously family life occupy a fair amount of the set, he also brings conversations with his father into the mix as well. Stories of his dogs, wife’s wine forays, and domestic tiffs are hilariously related and other stuff such as the Rooney’s wedding and brief forays into drugs and religion  bring this all too short hour to a conclusion It was the first time I had seen him live, previously another of the bosses review tickets, but I hope it won’t be too long until the next time. The guy is a class act. ****
