Annabelle’s Skirting Board Adventure 4**** - One4Review

Annabelle may be the World’s Smallest Elephant, but it helps to have a few friends on her side. Icarus the Moth is perhaps the worst behaved of these, but even he can be counted on in a crisis. Though, like Annabelle, he can only be seen via the Annabelle-cameras that allow the audience to see the tiny speck of an elephant overlaid onto the real set and audience members.
Told by Steve (Parry) the Storyteller and trumpeter, with help from Arthur the Man – aka Howard Read, aka Big Howard from many an Edinburgh show, before CBBC finally caught on to the Big / Little Howard phenomena – this collaboration uses music, visual comedy, and plenty of all round silliness to tell a sweet little tale of the sorts of adventure you can get up to when climbing a couple of children’s back-packs is a major feat!
Annabelle also gets to be a little bit naughty, as she trumpets at her friends. There’s even a good excuse for singing along, although parents should be prepared for the ear-worm effect of the catchy tunes. Right, I’m off. Which reminds me: “Annabelle’s off on an adventure…”
