The Brendon Burns Show Again: Brendon Burns 4**** - One4Review
one4review | On 27, Aug 2015
Burns made the decision last year to leave the ‘Big Four’ and not promote or advertise his show. He hid it away in a bunker that is so hard to find in order to deter the audience he doesn’t want, Radio 4 types, safe in the knowledge that his hordes of true fans will find him. They did of course, so for this year he is following the same pattern.
Relaxed as he always is these days, he entertains as only he can, expressing volubly his take on things, politics, the Warhol quote of everybody being famous for 15 minutes, his status changing from being the rock’n’roll comic to the old c**t, Aussie AA meetings, some insight into his family life and together with the demographic audience he craves approval from.
There are the digs at Britain, call backs to his award winning show, and sense of humour from around the world.
His self-deprecating comments that he is so infamous because he knows his audience by name gives him the intimacy to go where he wants to, be as playful or as shouty as he decides, to enjoy himself, and still get any message across.
It is as always good to be in the company of a comedy legend, and all for a few quid, cause although entry is free a collection is taken at the end. Go on dig deep.
