Larry Dean - Fudnut 5***** - One4Review

Can it really be 2013 that I first saw a fresh-faced Glaswegian, Larry Dean, win the Scottish Comedian of the Year award. Even with a short set I knew that he was headed for stardom, and I was not wrong. Every year he goes from strength to strength and judging by the bigger spaces he is selling out virtually every gig I am not alone in my opinion.
Larry has a huge personality and that engulfs the room, a comedy talent that embraces all, he is a gay comic, but has a huge following by everyone.
He starts his gag filled gig with self-deprecating his appearance and delves into a selection of his darkest jokes, albeit with his own antidote to ease the impact, before what turns out to be the running story theme of his set, being stopped by customs in Abu Dhabi. Whether the show is structured this was is uncertain, he has always gone off at tangents, always outrageously funny, but does also complete what he starts,
We had the break up of a relationship, a trip to California, therapy on Zoom, Tom Hanks references and losing confidence after a Yorkshire gig , as well as the tragic loss of his comedy director and friend Paul Byrne who helped him overcome that. This show was a shining example of what was achieved.
There is still a chance that a ticket may be available before the end of the run, but don’t delay or you will miss out.
