Freya Parker : It Ain’t Easy Being Cheeky 4**** - One4Review

Freya Parker : It Ain’t Easy Being Cheeky 4****

| On 10, Aug 2023

An hour of, mainly observational, comedy from one half of Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated duo Lazy Susan.

Freya Parker’s show is dedicated to the concept of being cheeky. We, the audience are presented with various examples of Freya’s past behaviour, from childhood to adulthood, to rate as ‘cheeky’ or not ‘cheeky’. This is a novel idea and one which works in terms of engaging the audience and getting the crowd on side.

Freya is a very confident performer and has various acting credits that run alongside her stand up and writing career.

Throughout the show we learn a lot about Freya, from her childhood somewhat strange behaviours from pretending to be deaf to posing as an American man to leave a friend’s parent a death threat. Yes, some of it does stretch the meaning of being ‘cheeky’ considerably.

There have been times when it’s been hard to stay cheeky through the various traumas that life can throw at you.

This is an entertaining hour of comedy and Freya has a huge personality from an admittedly person of small stature.

This is a very impressive solo Fringe debut.
