Sakisa made her Fringe debut last year and it was both critically acclaimed and did large numbers at the box office, so I was very interested to how the ’difficult’ second show panned out.
Bounding out onto her stage Sikisa grabbed the gig by the scruff of it’s neck and didn’t let go for the full hour. She has a huge personality, oodles of stage presence and a very impressively written show and one that was packed full of laughs.
The material is fairly wide ranging, she talks of some of the usual subjects, social media, dating apps, her early life, a spell as an emo, being ghosted, her love of being in a relationship, but a lack of ability to flirt. Also ther careers as an immigration lawyer and an award-winning burlesque dancer too, quite an eclectic mix.
Probably the recent diagnosis of her dyslexia helped her come to terms with some of her earlier life issues, and she claims to not still like words to express herself, strange as she is so good at using them, but loves to dance, where she can truly be herself.
Already Sikisa has a number of TV appearances to her name, and I would expect many more will follow. This could be a great chance to witness the Sikisa experience for yourselves. Oh and don’t leave early and miss the finale.
