Best Laid Marketing Plans - One4Review

There’s no two ways about it, this 60-minute show about the Best Laid Marketing Plans did ‘gang aft agley’ and provided thoroughly uncomfortable viewing.  Roland Gent wanted to tell tales of remarkably bad ideas and on the evidence presented ,this show could well be considered one of them. At no point did Gent project a confident presence on stage, continually throwing out questions to an increasingly weary audience and laughing awkwardly as his gags failed to raise the desired response.  It never really felt as if the show had properly started and instead Gent seemed to be working through a list of topics he wanted to get over and done with. He also made the worst mistake I think a comedian can make which is to continually point out that perhaps the show wasn’t going as well as it should.  If Gent wants to give up his day job in marketing to make a career out of comedy he should first of all work at selling himself. *
