The Axis of Awesome – Viva La Vida Loca Las Vegas 4**** - One4Review

This Australian trio, made up of Lee Naimo, Jordan Raskopoulos and Benny Davis formed in 2006, have been regular and popular performers at the Edinburgh Fringe over the years. They have a real cult fan base mainly due to their you tube sensation Four Chords, a medley of numerous pop songs which contain the same basic chord structure. The crowd were absolutely mad for them at this almost sell out show.
The performers are very relaxed, seem to have fun with each other and clearly connect with their audience. Musical parody is the major feature of the act and they do this very well with subjects such as the simpleness of writing a lovesong and the constant desire to upgrade to the latest iphone on the market. They explain and perform the title of their show, coming from Coldplay (Viva la Vida), Elvis (Viva Las Vegas) and Ricky Marin (Livin’ La Vida Loca) hits. There’s a deliberately bad Johnny Cash piece, audience participation section and much more.
This was a highly charged, energetic performance watched by a room full of adoring fans that just couldn’t get enough of them.
