Rob Rouse – Are You Sitting Comfortably 4****

| On 13, Aug 2018

Rob Rouse is a middle-aged married man who takes the audience on a hilarious journey from the point in his life that he decided to give up his stable but impoverished career as a Geography teacher to become a comedian, bringing us to the present with his recent prostate exam.  Throughout Are You Sitting Comfortably he delights us with a series of humorous stories including finding a long lost vibrator hidden in a sports sock, his six year old daughter’s penchant for alfresco peeing and the lasagne eating poo escapades of Ron, the family dog.

Since he won the prestigious Channel 4 So You Think You’re Funny Award 20 years ago Rob has perfected his own brand of comedic storytelling and side-splitting punchlines. He is a well accomplished stand-up comedian that you can’t help but like and whose honest and frank reflections on his own life provides the audience with plenty of hilarious anecdotes that will not fail to entertain.
Having toured the country over the past year with this show he has managed to distill it nicely into the alloted hour.  However, I’m not sure how many times he has requested the audience to make donations directly into the elastic of his pants, then again he did seem quite comfortable with this request so maybe more often than I give him credit for,
Are You Sitting Comfortably is a seriously funny stand-up which was a pleasure to behold and is well worth an hour of anybody’s time.
