Daisy Earl:- Fairy Elephant 3.5***

| On 21, Aug 2019

Given her normal speaking voice you could wonder how Daisy Earl won Scottish Comedian of the Year a year or two ago, but she is actually 75% Scot. You could also wonder at the tough love displayed by her mother calling her the show title.
Ms Earl goes through a potted history of her life, a significant weight gain, being desperately unhappy, heavy drinking turning to alcoholism, losing a relationship and her addiction to food. There is also her comedy career as well.
But at 30 she realised things must change and set herself a series of targets to achieve and with professional help, sheer will power and a phone app or two she is well on her way.Real questions are asked about the myriad of help available to some addicts and addictions, yet others are sadly lacking in that respect.
Daisy has a well scripted show, there are plenty of laughs in the hour, there is also inspiration and she has a likeability that not everyone has. She struck up a rapport with the audience I was part of and there was a feeling that they were really rooting for her to succeed.
All in all a nice way to spend an afternoon hour.
