Matt Forde : spitting image, have I got news for you, the last leg, the Royal Variety Performance.
Well known, well respected, you know what you get with Matt you get political humour , he’s a lucky guy and who has benefited from a very extensive supply of materials over the past couple of years. he targets our beloved politicians both current, pending and previous.
His impressions are very good, his Tony Blair is spookily accurate, we even get a free lesson, and get to learn how to do a Passable Frank Skinner impression. It’s really hot in the venue and Matt is wearing a very smart suit, we are all sweltering, after a particular vitriolic attack on Farage we start on Boris, at which point several audience members get up and leave, when questioned by Matt they blame the heat which is understandable, personally, I think it’s some secret Tory loyalists finding it all a bit much .
He then somewhat bravely takes on the SNP and Nicola Sturgeon, the controversial unfinished ferry scheme comes in for some particular scrutiny.
He is fair and well balanced as labour and Keir Starmer get the Forde treatment next. The material is very free flowing and energetic, several audience members are in hysterics, however, somewhere Matt loses the audience fumbles his lines and has to recover. This is perfectly understandable given the heat, otherwise if you like your political humour topical and biting then you should definitely go and see this show.
