Gareth Waugh – Honestly? 4**** - One4Review

Gareth Waugh – Honestly? 4****

| On 05, Aug 2017

Gareth Waugh has been a regular on the Scottish comedy scene for a few years as well as touring with the likes of Tom Stade slightly wider afield so it is a surprise to many that this is his debut hour in 2017.
A simple set up, two mics, labelled 1 & 2 which he alternates relating his stories and funnies between. One is apparently for true stories and the other for using his fertile comedy brains made up ones. Which is which? Only time would tell.
Waugh is a personable comic, often self-deprecating, has a good delivery and comes across as a mate telling stories over a pint. He quickly got into his stride transporting the very full crowd along with him and drawing loads and loads of laughs along the way.
Booze buying experiences, the Wickerman festival antics, voting too much, trips to a strip club and stories of being on tour that obviously don’t stay on tour are sections that give him ample scope to showcase both his writing and delivery.
Waugh deserves to be a better known name than he is. Could this be the vehicle to raise his profile? In my opinion it certainly could.
Oh which mic is which? I don’t care. As good material was delivered from both it doesn’t matter. Honestly!
