Simon Brodkin – Xavier 5***** - One4Review

I wasn’t too sure what I expected going into this gig. My knowledge of Brodkin’s back catalogue consisted of him showering Sepp Blatter with dollars and handing Teresa May a P45, oh and of course his alter ego Lee Nelson.
What we got for the hour was a masterclass of stand-up at its very best.
Brodkin is a natural. He has charisma, he has presence and a razor-sharp mind and wit. He excels at crowd work, chatting with his front row with ease, the comedy gods had definitely smiled on him that night.
His topics are wide ranging yet relatable. He talks of London in less than complementary terms, Northern Britian poverty, his wife and family, also has plenty to say about certain politicians, especially Matt Hancock, Nicola Sturgeon, Liz Truss, NHS, rail strikes, police force and a fair bit about the royals as well as much more.
Brodkin can find humour in most things, his show is peppered with belly laughs, and is delightfully written. He is a bright intelligent comedian yet is also able to be self-deprecating, sending himself up on more than one occasion.
And then there is Xaxier. Who you may ask? Well, if you can get a ticket go and find out for yourself. I would recommend that you are quick. Tickets are already scarce and you should not miss out.
